CLASSES AT LIFE YOGA

At Life Yoga, we have built our reputation as a premium yoga studio. We've assembled a faculty of some of Kingston’s most knowledgeable and sought after instructors. We uphold and foster a safe, clean, comfortable, and sacred environment and we offer a variety of yoga classes that meet the needs of our students - from absolute beginners to advanced students. We strive to provide students with the best yoga experience and are honored to have built an outstanding community of students.

What should I do before my class?

  • For the consideration of the other practitioners, please observe basic hygiene when attending yoga class.
  • Please refrain from wearing perfume, oils, or other strong scents in the yoga space.
  • If you tend to sweat, please bring a towel to more powerful practices. We also have towels available to rent for $2.
  • Please bring a yoga mat if you have one - you can also rent a mat from us for $1.
  • Yoga is best enjoyed on an empty stomach, so try not to eat 2-3 hours prior to your session. If this is not possible, have a light snack at least 30 minutes before class (we always have lots of snacks at the studio, so please feel free to ask us).
  • Come to class well-hydrated. Please bring your own bottle of water (just water please!) as we do not have bottled water available in the studio in an effort to reduce our impact on the environment. Please ensure that your bottle has a lid to prevent spills.
  • Wear clothing that is comfortable and supportive. You may want to see how appropriate it will be in class by bending forward, hopping up and down and leaning back in front of a mirror. You may choose to avoid articles that are too loose, as they will lift during inverted postures. Alternatively, consider wearing a tighter under layer beneath your loose clothing.
  • Please remove shoes before walking on any un-carpeted flooring. Classes are done in bare feet or socked feet if you would prefer.
  • Our doors open at least 20 minutes before class. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class begins as you will need to complete a New Student Form and sign in for classes.
  • Out of respect for the practice of others, latecomers will not be permitted once the class has begun.
  • Please turn off all cell phone, pagers, or other electronic devices before entering the yoga studio (or just leave them at home).
  • You can hang your coats, bags, etc. on the hooks in the lobby or on the additional hooks in the change rooms. Please do not bring anything besides what you will need for your class into the practice space.
  • Help yourself and your teacher by letting him/her know of any physical limitations or injuries you may be suffering from or susceptible to. This will help create a safer and more enjoyable class for you.
  • If you are planning to take a shower after class, please let your instructor know before class. We also have towels available to rent for $2.
  • Yoga practice accessories (Acuballs, blocks, straps, pillows, blankets, and bolsters) will be available to you for classes.

Is there anything else that I should know about for my class?

  • The yoga space is a sacred practice area. Please honour other students by speaking only in whispered conversation within the space and set up for class quietly once in the practice space.
  • Please align the top left corner of your yoga mat with one of the black markings on the floor in order to make room for everyone.
  • Help yourself to any props and sit or lie quietly or gentle stretch before your class.
  • Even if you are not yet comfortable participating, please be still during any meditation practice or final resting pose (known as Savasana).

What should I do after my class?

  • Please spray rented mats with the spray provided, wipe them down after use, and leave them to dry on the ballet barres.
  • Please return borrowed props as you found them and neatly fold borrowed blankets away.
  • We encourage you to leave a few minutes after class for an opportunity to relax and chat with fellow yogis in our front lobby. This is also a great time to ask your teacher questions.
